Manassas City Public Schools reopened Nov. 12 on a two-hour delay following a cybersecurity incident that disrupted district operations, officials said in a letter to parents.

Classes were canceled Nov. 10 due to the incident, and Nov.11 for Veterans Day.

In a letter publicly released on the district’s social media page, Superintendent Kevin Newman said the district’s IT team, “working closely with outside cybersecurity experts, has made significant progress in restoring division systems after the recent cybersecurity incident.”

“To support a smooth transition, we will operate on a two-hour delayed start for students. This means students will report to school two hours later than their normal time,” the letter reads.

Some technology tools and applications may remain intentionally offline as school officials complete the recovery process and continue strengthening system protections. However, phone systems have been restored, and security measures are in place to ensure “campuses remain safe and secure.”

Pre-kindergarten classes will not be held Wednesday, according to the announcement. Bus routes will operate on a two-hour delay, consistent with the adjusted start time.
