Boise State University has hired Brandon Bowlin as its new chief information security office (CISO). Brandon’s work will be part of the university’s Office of Information Technology.
Prior to joining academia, Bowlin had a lengthy cybersecurity career in the private sector. He focused primarily on consulting and security advising where he led teams to implement technologies, processes, and strategies across multiple industries.
According to a press release from the university, during Bowlin’s career he “made it his mission to protect and defend against the ever-growing threats in the digital realm, safeguarding individuals’ and organizations’ digital well-being.”
Bowlin originally enlisted in the Marine Corps before attending Vanderbilt University and then rejoined the Marine Corps. Bowlin has also received a Master of Science in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance from Western Governors University.
