The National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) today released its new strategic plan for 2018 to 2020.
The plan is designed to help NASCIO achieve its mission of fostering “government excellence through leadership of quality business practices, information management, and technology policy.” NASCIO leadership uses the strategic plan to both develop its annual business plan, as well as measure the organization’s performance. NASCIO noted in a press release that the organization develops a new strategic plan every two years.
“The executive committee came together in June to discuss the role we envision for CIOs in the world of state IT and how NASCIO can help advance that vision,” NASCIO President and CIO for the state of Oklahoma, Bo Reese, noted. “I’m pleased to say that after two days of robust discussion, we believe the strategic vision as we’ve laid out for the next two years will have NASCIO and its members prepared to thrive in this ever-changing IT landscape.”
In the plan, NASCIO laid out its mission, vision, guiding principles, and its goals and objectives. Over the next two years, NASCIO is looking to advance three goals: to excel as the premier community and trusted resource for state CIOs; to advance state CIOs as key state leaders; and to be a national leader and advocate for information technology policy at all levels of government.
“It’s always enlightening to bring this group of state IT leaders together to share their vision for the future,” said Doug Robinson, NASCIO executive director, in a statement. “It is that kind of thoughtful insight that has made NASCIO a leader for our CIOs in state IT policy and will keep NASCIO relevant for our members for years to come.”
