The Georgia Technology Authority (GTA) is moving to the hybrid-cloud to deliver state services with the hope of improving services and lowering costs. To make the move, GTA selected Unisys as its cloud broker. Unisys, which announced the partnership yesterday, said the contract is worth up to $219 million and includes an initial 5.5-year contract with three additional 1-year option periods. The hybrid cloud will be secured by Unisys Stealth, a microsegmentation software solution. “The solution will allow for the introduction of new services, clearing the way for innovation while ensuring the state is not locked into outdated technology,” Unisys explained. As part of the contract, Georgia will have access to Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure public clouds. In its role as cloud broker, Unisys is tasked with managing Georgia’s computing and data storage environment. Additionally, it will provide deployment, technology refresh, patching, trouble shooting, and asset management services.
