Florida State University (FSU) named Jonathan Fozard vice president for Information Technology Services (ITS), a newly created position at the university. Fozard, who joined FSU in 2020, has more than 25 years of experience leading technology, cybersecurity, and digital modernization initiatives in higher education and the public sector.
Fozard will continue overseeing a technology portfolio that includes more than 1,000 employees and an annual budget exceeding $275 million. Those operations support secure and reliable technology services for more than 46,000 students, numerous statewide agencies, and FSU’s global study centers worldwide, the university said.
The university said the creation of the new vice president role reflects the growing importance of technology across FSU.
“Jonathan understands how technology can advance every part of our mission, from student success and academic excellence to groundbreaking research and public service,” said FSU President Richard McCullough.
Since arriving at FSU, Fozard has led development of the university’s RISE 2030 technology strategy, which aligns technology investments with academic and research priorities. Under his leadership, FSU said it aligned technology positions, expanded the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools, strengthened cybersecurity, enhanced technology support for research, and expanded student internship opportunities.
Fozard also leads the Northwest Regional Data Center, the State Data Center of Florida, and Florida Virtual Campus, which provide technology services to students, faculty, staff, researchers, global study centers, and state agencies. In addition, he serves on Florida’s Government Technology Modernization Council, which advises state leaders on identity management, cybersecurity standards, and the responsible deployment of AI.
“I am honored by the opportunity to serve Florida State University in this role,” Fozard said in a statement. “Technology touches every aspect of the university’s mission, and I look forward to working with our faculty, staff, students, and partners to continue building innovative, secure, and reliable systems that support learning, research, service, and the critical work we help enable across Florida and around the world.”
Fozard was named the 2026 Florida Large Enterprise ORBIE award winner for his leadership in technological innovation and workforce development.
Before joining FSU, he held senior technology, finance, and operations roles at George Washington University, the University of Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State University.
