The city of Des Moines, Iowa has hired Jeffery Wann as its new chief information officer (CIO).
In his new role, Wann will oversee all IT infrastructure, network, and application technologies across the city, including Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and enterprise applications, and focus on modernizing systems across all 17 departments.
“Jeffrey has long been a leader in this space, bringing valuable experience to the City at a time when information technology systems are more important than ever,” Assistant City Manager Jim Hoff said. “We are proud to have him join our efforts in other areas of the organization to streamline and improve services for the City and its residents.”
Before joining the city government, Wann logged 30 years of IT experience in both the private and public sectors. He previously served as chief technology officer for the Federal Reserve, as well as the CIO for the state of Missouri. He is also a founding member of the board of directors for the Secure Coding Apprenticeship program, and is a member of the advisory council for StateRAMP.
