The Colorado Broadband Office (CBO), under the Governor’s Office of Information Technology, has launched a new online Broadband Mapping Hub to assist Internet Service Providers, schools, communities, and businesses in their broadband planning efforts.
The hub, available at broadbandhub.colorado.gov, serves as a one-stop shop for broadband efforts for Colorado, allowing users to find partnerships and apply for broadband funding through the state.
“We’ve covered a lot of ground, asking communities and industry what they need to improve broadband in Colorado,” Brandy Reitter, executive director of the Colorado Broadband Office, said in a Feb. 16 press release. “They overwhelmingly said they need resources to develop broadband plans, find partnerships, and navigate Federal funding. We are thrilled to offer that through the new Broadband Mapping Hub.”
Some of the hub’s features include a new broadband coverage map that offers information such as households served or internet speeds. Residents can enter their address to find available broadband service, information about grants in the area, and typical speeds from nearby speed tests.
It also offers information on broadband projects funded by the state, allowing users to filter by funding program, project status, and area of interest. Users can also find everything they need to apply for broadband funding through the Grant Discovery Portal.
Additionally, users can find and download data through the Mapping Hub, which includes links to authoritative data sources used in Colorado’s maps, including CBO data, Federal Communications Commission (FCC) data, U.S. Census and demography data, and other mapping resources.
Finally, the hub allows users to take the CBO Broadband Survey and Speed Test to test their home or business internet speed and share information directly with the CBO.
