The National Association of State Technology Directors (NASTD) announced its new leadership team for 2020 on Aug. 22, immediately following its Annual Conference and Technology Showcase.
Brad Steele, director of unified communications for Massachusetts’ Executive Office of Technology Services and Security (EOTSS), was named NASTD president. Steele, who previously served as the organizations vice president, replaces John Hoffman, CTO of Texas’ Department of Information Resources. Since joining the Commonwealth’s government in 2009, Steele “has concentrated on ensuring that the services offered by EOTSS for network, telecommunications and messaging provide for a consistent and efficient experience across the executive branch, as well as participating entities. NASTD notes that in addition to his work with the state government, Steele also enjoys working with his hometown team, the New England Patriots, and supervises in-game electronic signage for the team.
Steele will work alongside Victoria Wallis, who was named NASTD’s new vice president. Wallis is the strategic project manager for the Iowa Communications Network (ICN), a distance learning and state government broadband carrier network. Wallis has worked for ICN for more than 15 years in various positions.
As the immediate past president, Hoffman will remain on the Executive Board through 2020.
