Users of OpenAI’s ChatGPT can now use certain apps that run inside ChatGPT, including Coursera for education use cases, the artificial intelligence company said on Monday, explaining that users can bring course content into a live conversation.

Available for users outside of the European Union on Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans, OpenAI said that Coursera is one of several companies it has partnered with, including Booking.com, Canva, Coursera, Expedia, Figma, Spotify, and Zillow.

Coursera’s app in ChatGPT is built on OpenAI’s Apps SDK and aims to “bring high-quality courses from the world’s top educators into the flow of questions and practice, helping learners move from curiosity to credentials faster and with greater confidence,” according to the company.

To use the Coursera app, users can start a ChatGPT message with “Coursera,” or ChatGPT can also suggest the app when it recognizes that Coursera content may be useful to the conversation.

OpenAI said users can also ask ChatGPT to elaborate on content learned in a video watched on Coursera.

“ChatGPT is quickly becoming one of the go-to tools for people who want to learn something new,” said Leah Belsky, vice president of education at OpenAI. “But the most powerful learning experiences happen when human expertise and AI work together.”

“By bringing the expertise of world-class educators and institutions within Coursera into ChatGPT, learners can more easily find trusted content, build job-ready skills, move their careers forward, and unlock new opportunities,” she continued.

In the coming months, OpenAI said it plans to integrate more apps into ChatGPT.

In addition to partnering with Coursera, OpenAI announced this summer that it was integrating with Canvas – a learning app used by thousands of high schools and colleges worldwide – to help with instruction, grading, and evaluating student progress.
