The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) is partnering with Mark43, a public safety software company, to implement a cloud-based records management system (RMS).
NOPD said the upgrade will equip police officers with the tools they need to be more efficient and improve public safety.
“Public safety is our top priority, and this partnership with Mark43 represents a significant commitment to providing our officers with the best technology available,” said NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick. “The new system will not only save officers valuable time currently spent on paperwork, but also equip them with better tools for investigation and collaboration with federal partners.”
The benefits of the new RMS include:
- Reduced paperwork – Officers will now be able to quickly complete reports in the field, freeing up time for patrol and community engagement.
- Improved crime data collection – The new system ensures compliance with the National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS), leading to more accurate crime statistics and increased eligibility for Federal grants.
- Enhanced investigative capabilities – The system integrates seamlessly with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to identify connections between gun crimes across the country.
- Resilience and Security – The cloud-native platform ensures data accessibility and system availability even during disruptions.
“We conducted a thorough nationwide search to identify the best possible solution for the New Orleans Police Department,” said Gilbert A. Montaño, chief administrative officer of New Orleans. “Mark43 emerged as the clear leader, offering a platform that strongly aligns with our department’s needs. We are confident that this investment will significantly enhance public safety and operational efficiency.”
Mark43 is familiar with policing in the state of Louisiana, as the Louisiana State Police already uses the Mark43 Public Safety Platform.
