Miami Dade College (MDC) appointed Tanya Acevedo the new vice president for Information Technology and chief information officer (CIO).
Acevedo has almost 30 years of experience advancing the objectives of large institutions and organizations by establishing a technology vision and leading innovative strategies.
Before this new position, Acevedo was the chief technology officer for Bush Intercontinental and William P. Hobby Airports in Houston, Texas, for four years. And before that, she spent eight years as the CIO for Travis County in Austin, Texas, where she was responsible for the technology strategic direction and operation of a constituency of 1.2 million people.
She has also held various technology management and consulting roles at organizations like Toyota Financial Services, Edmunds.com, Orange County in California, and Answerthink Consulting.
Acevedo holds a master’s degree in business administration from Central Michigan University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Michigan State University.
