As school districts work to modernize aging technology infrastructure, strengthen cybersecurity, and support increasingly digital learning environments, IT leaders at Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) will bring their perspectives to the 2026 Red Hat Government Symposium on Oct. 28 in Washington, D.C.
Three FCPS technology leaders will join government and industry experts at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center for the annual event, themed “Mission: Velocity,” which will explore how open platforms, intelligent automation, and modern infrastructure can help public sector organizations deliver new capabilities faster while maintaining security and reliability.
Representing FCPS at the symposium are:
- Daniel Macrina, enterprise systems manager
- Keith Hudson, assistant director of IT operations
- Thomas DeBoeser, enterprise storage manager
For K-12 school systems, IT modernization presents a distinct set of challenges. Districts must maintain reliable technology services for students, educators, and administrators while managing complex infrastructure, growing data demands, and evolving cybersecurity threats.
The FCPS speakers will bring a K-12 perspective to the symposium’s broader conversations about modernizing critical systems, improving interoperability, and building flexible technology environments that can adapt to changing operational needs.
The discussion comes as state and local government organizations face increasing pressure to do more with existing resources while ensuring their technology environments remain secure, scalable, and resilient.
Throughout the day, the Red Hat Government Symposium will feature sessions examining application modernization, enterprise automation, artificial intelligence (AI), and cybersecurity, with government and industry leaders sharing approaches to overcoming common implementation challenges.
The 2026 Red Hat Government Symposium will take place Oct. 28 at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, D.C.
