Colorado Gov. Jared Polis announced the appointment of David Edinger as the state Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Executive Director of the Colorado Office of Information Technology.
Edinger replaces Tony Neal-Graves, who served as executive director and CIO since 2020.
“I am thrilled to announce David Edinger will lead the Office of Information Technology and want to thank Tony Neal-Graves for his impactful tenure and commitment to public service,” said Gov. Polis. “David’s passion for technology is driven by its ability to accelerate innovation and grant people easier access to the services they need.”
Before making the move to state government, Edinger worked for the City and County of Denver since 2008 in a variety of roles.
Named CIO in 2018, Edinger led the effort to reduce major incidents, virtualize workforce operations during the pandemic, and leverage technology to improve city performance across all agencies and departments. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Michigan and gained his MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia.

During his tenure as CIO and executive director, Neal-Graves worked to modernize the state’s mainframe operations, grow the user base for the myColorado app, and administered nearly $1 billion in Federal broadband funding. Neal-Graves also oversaw the launch of ServiceHub, the state’s customer IT portal.
