The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has officially launched its new #Protect2024 website that aims to help state and local election officials across the country ensure a safe and secure election process.
The website looks to serve as a central point for election resources, training lists, and security service offerings for the over 8,000 election jurisdictions for the 2024 election cycle.
CISA said the website builds upon years of working with election officials to mitigate any cyber, physical, or operational risks to election infrastructure.
“The #PROTECT2024 website provides a consolidated set of free resources for state and local election officials, those on the front lines of securing the democratic process,” CISA Director Jen Easterly said in a Feb. 7 press release. “This year, we are placing particular focus on support to local election offices in order to help them strengthen their security posture.”
CISA is encouraging stakeholders, government officials, and the public to explore the #Protect2024 website. There, they will find simple tips to improve their security in 2024, including by enabling multi-factor authentication (MFA), knowing and managing their cyber vulnerabilities, and getting a physical security assessment.
“Election security remains a paramount concern for CISA, the lead Federal agency entrusted with securing the nation’s elections infrastructure,” CISA said. “The agency continues to proudly stand shoulder-to-shoulder with state and local election officials who are on the frontlines of defending our electoral process, and is committed to providing them with the resources, capabilities, and actionable information to help them ensure the security and integrity of the elections process.”
