As part of a broader initiative to improve mental health care and treatment statewide, California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced the launch of MentalHealth.CA.gov, a website for people seeking mental health resources available to state residents.

In addition to mental health resources, the website also includes information about the ongoing transformation of the state’s behavioral health system, with additional details and local tracking tools coming online in the next few months. State leaders said this information will help Californians see how their county governments are using the available tools and resources.

The governor’s office said that the new website makes it easier for Californians to connect with mental health services, including crisis services, counseling and treatment, real-time support, and specialized resources for children, youth, and older adults.

The website offers resources for those actively in crisis, those needing additional support but who aren’t facing a mental health emergency, and information for residents looking for more minor support.

A big part of the state’s overall transformation efforts is increasing accountability for stakeholders. State leaders said this means adding accountability tools for everyone involved in mental health treatment, including state and local entities, county and city governments, and private and public sector stakeholders.

In terms of what’s coming next, MentalHealth.CA.gov says the state will roll out a new website with easy-to-use trackers to measure county and state progress.
