Butler University has named Carol Williams chief information officer (CIO) at the Indianapolis-based institution.

Williams is moving to Butler after a 14-year stint at Princeton University, including most recently as associate CIO in the Service Management Office at the university’s Office of Information Technology, according to her LinkedIn account.

“I’m delighted to share that I’ll be serving as Chief Information Officer at Butler University where I will work alongside an energetic team dedicated to innovation and inclusion,” Williams said in a LinkedIn post.

“I am convicted in my belief that Higher Education – and its potential to transform the lives of students – is, and will always remain, important,” the new CIO said, adding, “Our digital strategies must meet the moment ensuring that what we offer prepares our thinkers for current, real-world challenges.”

“I am very excited for Carol Williams to join us here at Butler University,” said Alan Finn, chief operating officer at Butler. “We will benefit from her leadership and skills.”

Prior to her work at Princeton, Williams was a senior manager Deloitte for five years.
