6. The U.S. is the Top Origin of Cyberattacks

In determining the locations from which cyberattacks occurred, the study found that nearly 50 percent of source activity and 18 percent of source IP addresses originated in the U.S. Coming in second, China represented 31 percent of source activity and nearly 60 percent of source IP addresses. The report also noted that because cyber criminals are able to redirect their attacks through multiple servers, they may not actually be in the location that the data shows them to be attacking from.
