Greg Godbout was appointed Delaware’s new chief technology officer (CTO), the Delaware Department of Technology and Information (DTI) announced on Oct. 21. Godbout brings more than two decades of experience in government technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital services.

Godbout assumed the role on Oct. 5 and reports directly to Delaware Chief Information Officer (CIO) Bob Osmond, according to the department’s press release.

“Greg’s experience with artificial intelligence, federal digital services and private-sector technology leadership makes him an exemplary leader to transform DTI technology services to the next level,” Osmond said.

DTI provides technology leadership, services, and support across Delaware’s state government agencies.

“I’ve spent most of my career working on how government can use technology to serve people better, and I’m glad to bring that work to Delaware. DTI already has a strong team, and I’m looking forward to working with them to help make state services simpler, secure, and easier for residents to use,” Godbout said.

Godbout’s experience spans the public and private sectors, including leadership roles in federal digital modernization and AI development.

Previously, Godbout served as CTO and U.S. Digital Services Lead at the Environmental Protection Agency. He also co-founded 18F, the federal government’s digital services unit within the General Services Administration, where he served as its first executive director.

Established to improve how federal agencies develop and deliver digital services, 18F focused on modernizing government technology and improving the public’s experience accessing federal services.

Godbout’s private-sector experience includes serving as CEO of Flamelit, a data science and AI consultancy, and CEO of AI for Natural Disasters, which was acquired by Global Clean Energy.
