The Commonwealth  of Pennsylvania has elevated Andy Ritter to chief information security officer (CISO), Ritter reported in a Feb. 5 posting to his LinkedIn account.

He comes to the new position after serving as acting CISO for the commonwealth and deputy CISO since 2024.

“With more than 30 years of experience in cybersecurity and information technology, my perspective has been shaped by hands-on technical work, operational leadership, and public-sector service,” Ritter said.

“I take a practical, balanced approach to cybersecurity – one that considers both the realities of risk and the need for agencies to deliver reliable, efficient public services,” he continued.

“Public service drives my work,” Ritter emphasized, adding, “I value building strong teams, earning trust, and collaborating across government and industry to protect the systems and services Pennsylvanians rely on every day.”
