The city of Dallas said on May 3 that it’s in the process of dealing with a successful ransomware attack launched by the Royal hacking group.

Dallas city leaders have launched a new tool to help residents protect themselves against cybersecurity threats, a free app dubbed “Dallas Secure.”

With state and local governments (SLGs) becoming more tempting targets for cyberattacks every day, Federal and SLG experts are increasingly urging the importance of communication between the public and private sector in order to achieve a unified and stronger American cybersecurity posture.

From public safety, to sanitation, to libraries, and more, the city of Dallas is aiming to deliver those services – and improvements to them – with a foundational commitment to improving the availability of broadband services to all, city CIO Bill Zielinski says.

For the second time in as many years, the tornado sirens in Dallas County, Texas have been hacked.

One in two American adults is in a law enforcement facial recognition database, which has the potential to disproportionately affect people of color, according to a report released by the Center for Privacy and Technology at the Georgetown University law school. A coalition of 52 civil liberties groups wrote a letter to the Justice Department, expressing their concern that facial recognition systems disproportionately affect communities of color.
